Buffet and Sideboards

Solid walnut, oak, teak and ash buffet cabinets and sideboards, handcrafted for UAE homes. Every piece is built from real timber — not veneer or MDF — in widths from 120 cm to 200 cm, with door-to-door delivery across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the wider UAE.

Why Solid Wood, Not Veneer

Most buffet cabinets sold online in the UAE are engineered board with a thin wood-look layer pressed on top. They photograph well and they are cheap to ship. They also cannot be sanded back, cannot be repaired at the edges, and tend to swell where moisture gets in.

Every sideboard in this collection is made from solid timber — walnut, oak, teak, ash or mango wood — cut, joined and finished by hand. You can feel it in the weight: our pieces run 60–100 kg, roughly two to three times a comparable board-built cabinet. Surfaces are given a natural oiled or natural finish rather than a heavy plastic lacquer, so the grain stays visible and any future scratch can be oiled out instead of replaced. It is furniture meant to be refinished in fifteen years, not thrown out.

Sideboard, Buffet or Credenza — Which One Do You Need?

The three words describe the same basic object, used differently.

A buffet cabinet sits in the dining room and is usually a little taller, built for serving and for storing crockery, cutlery and serveware — the modern replacement for the traditional crockery unit. A sideboard is lower and more versatile: it works just as well along a living room wall, in an entryway or down a hallway, holding everything from linen to documents while giving you a surface for lamps and objects. Credenza is the designer term for the same low, long cabinet, usually with a cleaner front and finer legs.

If you want it purely for a television, a dedicated media unit is the better choice. If it is for glassware and bottles, look at the bar cabinet range, and for a narrow entryway piece see our console tables.

Choosing the Right Size

Get the width right first, then the depth. As a rule, a sideboard should be shorter than the wall it sits against and, if it pairs with a dining table, similar in length to that table or slightly under. Standard height across this collection is 75–80 cm, which is comfortable for serving while standing.

Width Best suited to Typical use
120–140 cm Apartments in Marina, JVC, Business Bay, Al Reem Compact dining corners, entryways, narrow hallways
150–180 cm Standard dining and living rooms Pairs with a 6-seater dining table
180–200 cm Villa dining rooms and majlis spaces Pairs with an 8-seater table; works as a statement piece

Depths run from 40 cm to 55 cm. Anything at 40–45 cm will pass comfortably through a hallway without crowding it; 50–55 cm gives you noticeably more storage behind the doors.

Delivery and Assembly Across the UAE

We deliver door-to-door across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and the Northern Emirates. Almost every piece in this collection arrives fully built — no assembly required — so it goes straight into position. The few designs that ship flat are marked clearly on the product page under “Assembly”.

Custom Sizes and Finishes

We manufacture what we sell, so dimensions are not fixed. If a design works for you but the width does not, or you want a different wood or finish, we can build it to your measurements. Interior designers and fit-out teams working on multiple units can talk to us about trade terms and lead times. Message us on WhatsApp at +971 52 759 4511 or email sales@nismaayadecor.ae with your sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a buffet cabinet and a sideboard?

A buffet cabinet is typically taller and used in the dining room for serving and storing crockery. A sideboard is lower and more versatile, working equally well in a dining room, living room, entryway or hallway. A credenza is the designer term for the same low cabinet form. In practice the three are often used interchangeably, and every piece in this collection can serve any of the three roles.

Are these sideboards solid wood or veneer?

Solid wood throughout — walnut, oak, white oak, teak, ash or mango wood depending on the design. We do not use MDF or particle board carcasses with a veneer face. The material for each piece is listed in the specification table on its product page.

Does solid wood furniture warp in Dubai’s humidity?

Properly kiln-dried and finished solid wood handles UAE conditions well, because most homes here are air conditioned and sit at a fairly stable indoor humidity. The two things that actually cause problems are direct sun on the surface for hours a day and standing water. Keep the piece out of direct sunlight, wipe spills quickly, and re-oil a natural-finish surface every 12–18 months, and it will stay flat and sound for decades.

What size sideboard should I buy?

Measure the wall first and stay under its full length. For apartments, 120–140 cm usually works; for a standard dining room, 150–180 cm; for villa dining rooms and majlis spaces, 180–200 cm. If it is pairing with a dining table, match the table’s length or go slightly shorter. Depth of 40–45 cm suits hallways, while 50–55 cm gives more storage.

Do the sideboards arrive assembled?

Most do. The majority of pieces in this collection are marked “No Assembly Required” and arrive ready to place. A small number ship flat and are labelled “Assembly Required” in the specification table on the product page, so you can check before ordering.

Do you deliver to Abu Dhabi and Sharjah?

Yes. We deliver door-to-door across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.

Can I order a sideboard in a custom size?

Yes. We manufacture our own furniture, so width, height, depth, wood and finish can all be changed. Send your measurements to sales@nismaayadecor.ae or WhatsApp +971 52 759 4511 and we will come back with a quote and a lead time.
